Tom Mahlen is admitted to practice in Montana State and Federal Courts, and is a member of the Montana Defense Trial Lawyers Association.
Originally from northern Wisconsin, Tom worked for the firm as a law clerk during law school, and joined the firm in 2007. Since then, Tom has been involved in construction defect cases, insurance coverage disputes including declaratory judgment actions
and bad faith defense, complex contract litigation, collision cases, and employment disputes. Tom has assisted in defending government entities and businesses against allegations of discrimination and retaliation under state and federal law, and has experience practicing before the Montana Human Rights Bureau, the Montana Human Rights Commission, and the Department of Labor-Hearings Bureau.
Since 2013, Tom has been a member of the Billings Breakfast Exchange Club service organization (www.breakfastexchangeclub.org), which raises money for a variety of organizations and charities. Tom also serves on the Board of Directors for the Center for Children and Families, a behavioral health and child well-being agency serving Montana (www.forfamilies.org) . In addition, Tom volunteers with the Montana Legal Services Family Law Clinic, providing pro bono assistance to low income and indigent people regarding family law issues, and is a member of the Shepherd Montana Lions Club.
